Methodology and sources

A transfer to Marriott Bonvoy is final: Marriott does not convert Bonvoy points back into Membership Rewards points. Marriott Bonvoy help

US ratio: 1 MR point = 1 Bonvoy point, read on the Amex US transfer page on Sep 29, 2026. Amex US transfer page

Minimum 1,000 MR points, in increments of 1,000. Anything left stays in your Membership Rewards account.

A Bonvoy point has no fixed value: what you get depends on the night you book. We use 0.75¢ per point, Milesopedia's reference value for the US market.

Value of a transferred MR point = Bonvoy points per MR point (1) × value of a Bonvoy point (0.75¢) = 0.75¢.

It is an estimate, not a price: an off-peak night can return far more, and so can a night that is expensive in cash but cheap in points.

By default, the calculation uses the current ratio, outside promotions. During a transfer promotion, pick its bonus in the calculator: the extra points are rounded down to a whole point, and the verdict is recalculated with the same thresholds.

Verdict: below 2¢, our reference value of an MR point, a transfer destroys value ("Avoid"); above it, "Fair".
