Which Amex cards get the $300 ChatGPT credit?

Two cards qualify: The Business Platinum Card® from American Express and the American Express® Business Gold Card. Both new and existing cardmembers can enroll. Personal cards, including the consumer Platinum Card®, do not carry this benefit.

Does the ChatGPT credit reset every January?

Yes. Amex grants up to $300 per calendar year, running January 1 through December 31. The reset does not follow your card anniversary or your annual fee billing date. As a result, a subscription that starts in July can draw on two separate credits within twelve months.

How much does ChatGPT Business cost?

OpenAI charges $20 per seat per month with annual billing, or $25 per seat per month with monthly billing, and the plan requires at least two seats. Therefore the minimum yearly cost is $480 with annual billing and $600 with monthly billing. OpenAI reduced these prices by $5 per seat in April 2026.

Should I pay ChatGPT monthly or annually?

It depends on how many eligible cards you hold. With one card, annual billing leaves you $180 out of pocket versus $300 with monthly billing. With both cards, monthly billing lets you split the year across two $300 credits and pay nothing, because a single annual charge can only draw on one credit.

Can I use both cards for one subscription?

Yes, provided you enroll each card account separately and use monthly billing. Charge the first half of the year to one card, then change the card on file in your OpenAI billing settings around July 1. Each account applies its own $300 credit to the charges it carries.

How long does the statement credit take?

Amex states that credits typically post 6 to 8 weeks from the payment date. You can follow the progress in the credit tracker inside your Benefits Dashboard, which also shows how much of the $300 remains. Your account must stay active and current when the credit is fulfilled.

Do employee cards count toward the credit?

Yes. On an enrolled account, purchases made by the Basic Card Member, Authorized Account Managers, and Employee Card Members all qualify. That flexibility helps when a team member owns the OpenAI billing relationship rather than the business owner.

Is the Business Platinum worth it for this credit?

Not on its own. The Business Platinum charges an $895 annual fee and the Business Gold charges $375, so $1,270 in fees against $600 of ChatGPT credit makes no sense in isolation. Judge both cards on their full benefit sets first, as we do in our guide to the best business credit cards.
