Shangri-La Circle is the loyalty program of the Shangri-La Group, covering Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts, Kerry Hotels, JEN, and Traders. It replaced Golden Circle in April 2022. Membership is free, and the bigger hotel perks, such as daily breakfast and early check-in, start at the Jade tier.

Shangri-La Circle tiers
Four levels, and unusually, status also raises your earning rate rather than only your perks. Qualification runs on nights or tier points, whichever you hit first.

Every tier, including free Gold, gets no blackout dates when using points, a priority waitlist for your preferred room type, points on up to three rooms, and family membership, and up to two children 6 and under eat free at the all-day dining buffet. Jade adds 11 a.m. early check-in and 4 p.m. late check-out (subject to availability), daily breakfast, and guaranteed availability for bookings made 72 hours ahead. Diamond moves to 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., serves breakfast at the café or Club Lounge, guarantees your bed type, and guarantees availability for bookings made 48 hours ahead. Jade and Diamond members also qualify for KrisFlyer Elite Silver status with Singapore Airlines.
How to use Shangri-La Circle points
Points go further here than at most hotel programs because they are not restricted to room nights. Members spend them on stays, dining, spa treatments, and retail, and they can combine points with cash on a single booking.
- Free nights with no blackout dates: Availability is not fenced off on peak dates.
- Dining and spa: Points cover on-property spending, not just rooms.
- Cash and Points: Useful when your balance falls short of a full night.
- Airline miles: Convert to partner airline programs, generally at 1:1, from 1,000 points and then in 500-point increments. Miles arrive in about four to six weeks.
Conversions are final, and converted points cannot be moved back into Shangri-La Circle. It is a reasonable exit for a stranded balance, though converting hotel points to miles usually costs you value compared with using them on a stay.
How to earn Shangri-La Circle points
Stays are the main path, at 1 point per dollar at Gold and up to 1.5 at Diamond and Polaris. There is no Shangri-La co-branded credit card in the United States, and no U.S. bank program transfers points directly into Shangri-La Circle.

Do Shangri-La Circle points expire?
Yes, and the rule is unusual enough to catch people out. Points earned in a given calendar year expire at the end of the second calendar year that follows. In practice, that means points earned in January last about 36 months, while points earned in December last about 25 months.
- Each year has its own deadline: All points earned in the same calendar year expire on the same date.
- New activity does not rescue old points: Earning more points never extends the deadline on points you already hold.
- Accounts close too: After 36 months of inactivity, the account is closed unless you reactivate it with an eligible stay or spending at a participating hotel within 12 months of going inactive.
This is the opposite of how most hotel programs work, where any activity resets the whole balance. Therefore, plan to spend points from a given year before that year’s deadline rather than assuming a future stay will protect them.
Is Shangri-La Circle worth it?
If you travel in Asia and stay at these hotels even occasionally, joining is an easy call, because membership is free and even Gold brings points with no blackout dates and a priority waitlist. The program also stands out for letting points cover dining and spa rather than rooms only.
- Little access from U.S. cards: No direct bank transfers, and the only indirect route, through Atmos Rewards at 8:1, is a poor deal.
- Regional footprint: Excellent across Asia, thin elsewhere.
- Rolling expiration: Points die on their own schedule regardless of account activity.
