5,000 bonus miles every year
The Air France KLM Visa Signature® Card gives cardholders 5,000 bonus Flying Blue miles once per year. The only requirement is that you spend $50 or more on the card within your anniversary year, which should be easy enough with normal spending.
Enhanced XP earning opportunities
The biggest enhancement to the Air France KLM Visa Signature® Card is the dramatically improved XP earning structure:
- 20 XP on your card anniversary
- Additional 80 XP after spending $15,000 annually
- Additional 60 XP after spending $25,000 annually
- Total possible: 160 XP per year (up from just 20 XP previously)
This is a massive improvement for Flying Blue elite status seekers. If you’re able to spend $25,000 per year on the card, you can earn 160 XP annually, which covers over half of the 300 XP required to maintain Platinum status.
Mastercard to Visa transition
In March 2026, the card will automatically transition from the Air France KLM World Elite Mastercard to the Air France KLM Visa Signature Card. Existing cardholders will receive new Visa cards with new card numbers, but all benefits and terms remain the same. The transition to Visa means the card will be accepted at Costco, opening up new earning opportunities.
No foreign transaction fees
This credit card doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees, so use it to pay in any currency without paying extra.
Redeeming Air France-KLM Flying Blue miles
Flying Blue is one of our favorite loyalty programs here at Milesopedia US. This is in large part because of its excellent redemption rates on transatlantic flights. - Business class flights to Europe and North Africa: Our favorite way to redeem Flying Blue miles is for flights from the US to Europe and North Africa. These flights often start at just 15,000 miles in economy and 50,000 miles in business class, which is one of the cheapest ways to fly transatlantic with airline miles. Best of all, taxes and fees are rarely over $300 one-way in business class.
- Domestic Delta flights: Air France and KLM are both SkyTeam members, so you can redeem Flying Blue miles on partner airlines like Delta Air Lines. You’ll often find solid deals on domestic US flights when you book with Flying Blue. For example, we found one-way flights from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Miami International Airport (MIA) for 16,000 miles plus $19.22 in taxes. Not a bad price given Delta award pricing is often more than this, but shop around to find the best price before you redeem Flying Blue miles for domestic flights.
- Flights to Hawaii: Flights from the US mainland to Hawaii are still domestic flights, but these redemptions are worth calling out separately. Delta flights from the West Coast to Hawaii are often bookable for 18,500 Flying Blue miles one-way plus $26.22 in taxes and fees.
- Fly Etihad business class to the Middle East: Etihad and Air France-KLM have a non-alliance partnership that lets Flying Blue members redeem miles for Etihad flights. For flights one-way from the US to the Middle East on Etihad, members pay 44,500 miles for an economy ticket or 87,500 miles for a business class ticket, plus taxes and fees. Expect to pay roughly $150 in taxes one-way in economy and $250 in business class.
- Promo Rewards: Flying Blue offers monthly Promo Rewards that offer discounted tickets to various destinations. These span all cabins, and we’ve seen a handful of great business-class deals throughout the years. For example, one of our writers recently booked a flight from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) to Prague’s Václav Havel Airport (PRG) via Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) for 31,500 Flying Blue miles in business class. It’s hard to directly compare the Air France KLM Visa Signature® Card to other airline credit cards, as benefits may be similar but will not apply to the same airline. Instead, we’ll compare it to a card with similar annual fees.

Is the Air France KLM Visa Signature Card worth it?
The Air France KLM Visa Signature® Card has an $89 annual fee, which we find very reasonable. This is especially true when you consider the 5,000 bonus miles you earn for spending at least $50 on the card per year. We value Flying Blue miles at 1.7 cents per mile, so this is worth at least $85.
The value of the card has been dramatically enhanced for travelers who want to earn Flying Blue elite status. Being able to earn up to 160 XPs per year with the card (versus just 20 XPs previously) is a game-changer. This could be the difference between earning and maintaining higher status tiers, especially Platinum status which requires 300 XPs to maintain.
Additionally, the enhanced welcome offer of 70,000 miles + 100 XPs far outweighs the annual fee when you first get the card. Based on our 1.7 cent per mile valuation of Flying Blue miles, the bonus is worth $1,190, and the 100 XPs provide instant Silver status.
Long story short: Yes, we think the Air France KLM Visa Signature® Card is absolutely worth it if you fly Air France or KLM and want Flying Blue miles and status. The enhanced XP earning makes it a must-have for US-based Flying Blue elites.
