Wyndham Rewards rebuilt its award chart on September 15, 2026, and the new pricing is already live. The program moved from three fixed redemption tiers to four: free nights now cost 5,000, 15,000, 30,000 or 45,000 points per bedroom per night. The floor drops from 7,500 points, and a new 45,000-point tier sits above what used to be the ceiling.

Hotels are being redistributed across all four tiers

Wyndham describes the 45,000-point tier as reserved "for a small number of our most elevated hotels", and says the vast majority of its portfolio still sits in the 5,000, 15,000 and 30,000-point bands. The program is reshuffling properties across all four tiers at the same time it adds the fourth one. A hotel that cost 15,000 points in August can now sit at 5,000, stay at 15,000 or climb to 30,000.

So the headline numbers tell you very little about your own trip. Pull up the specific property on the specific dates before you decide whether this change helped you or cost you.

One detail catches people out every time. Wyndham prices awards per bedroom per night, not per room. Book a three-bedroom Vacasa rental sitting in the 15,000-point tier and you owe 45,000 points a night. The points calculator is worth a minute here before you commit.

Existing reservations keep the old price

Price your own property, not the headline: hotels moved in both directions, so the tier you paid last year proves nothing about today.
Lock in the stays that were already 30,000 points: that band is exactly where the 50% increase landed.
Confirm your Citi transfer ratio first: some ThankYou cards move at 1,000:1,000, others at 1,000:700.
Transfer only against a confirmed booking: points that land in Wyndham Rewards cannot be moved back out.

Why the new ceiling matters more than the new floor

Wyndham has spent the past few years adding hundreds of luxury and all-inclusive properties, and those are the hotels the 45,000-point tier was built for. A 5,000-point Super 8 night is genuinely cheaper than it was last week, and on a road trip that adds up. But nobody banks a six-figure points balance to book Super 8s.

The redemption that justified holding a large Wyndham balance was the 30,000-point resort or all-inclusive night. That night now costs 45,000 points, which is the difference between six nights and four on the same balance.

Citi is the transfer route. ThankYou points move to Wyndham Rewards at 1,000:1,000 from the Citi Strata Elite, Citi Strata Premier, Citi Prestige and AT&T Access More cards.
