Based on recent valuations of Membership Rewards points at approximately 2 cents each, this welcome bonus is worth up to around $6,000 in travel value if you’re offered the full 300,000 amount. This makes it one of the most valuable credit card welcome offers currently available and the highest ever publicly offered for this card.
While the $20,000 spending requirement is substantial, it’s designed for businesses with significant expenses. If your business regularly spends at least $6,700 per month, you should be able to meet this threshold within the required time frame comfortably.
Eligibility for the Welcome Bonus
American Express follows a “once-in-a-lifetime” rule for welcome bonuses, meaning you’re only eligible for this offer if you’ve never had the Business Platinum Card before. Specifically, you won’t qualify if you:
- Currently have the Business Platinum Card
- Previously had this card (or earlier versions of it)
- Have been flagged by Amex’s systems for other reasons (such as gaming welcome bonuses)
Important eligibility notes:
- You can qualify for this bonus even if you have or had other Amex cards, including the personal Platinum Card or the Business Gold Card
- The Business Platinum Card is a charge card, not a credit card, so it doesn’t count toward Amex’s typical limit of five credit cards per person
- Business cards generally don’t appear on personal credit reports, so this application shouldn’t count toward Chase’s 5/24 rule
- Amex’s application system will typically notify you during the application process if you’re not eligible for the welcome bonus

Is the Amex Business Platinum Card Worth the $895 Annual Fee?
With an $895 annual fee, the Business Platinum Card is undoubtedly a premium product. However, for many businesses, the extensive benefits can more than offset this cost:
- First-year value: The 300,000-point welcome bonus alone is worth approximately $6,000, making the first year a no-brainer if you qualify for the full amount and can meet the spending requirement
- Ongoing value: The card offers over $3,100 in annual statement credits if fully maximized
- Additional value: Lounge access, hotel elite status, and travel protections can add thousands more in subjective value
- Big spender bonus: Businesses spending $250,000+ annually can access up to $3,600 in additional credits
The card is particularly valuable for businesses that:
- Travel frequently and can utilize the lounge access and hotel benefits
- Can easily meet the $20,000 minimum spending requirement
- Have significant expenses in the 2X bonus categories
- Can maximize at least several of the statement credits
- Value the flexibility of Membership Rewards points
However, it may not be the best fit if your business:
- Doesn’t spend enough to meet the welcome bonus requirement comfortably
- Rarely travels or can’t utilize the travel-focused benefits
- Would struggle to use enough statement credits to offset the annual fee
- Prefers cash back or simpler rewards programs
Bottom Line
The current 300,000-point targeted welcome offer on the Amex Business Platinum Card represents an exceptional opportunity for businesses that can meet the $20,000 spending requirement. With a value of approximately $6,000, this bonus alone more than offsets the card’s $895 annual fee for the first year.
Beyond the welcome bonus, the card’s extensive suite of benefits—including the new $600 hotel credit, enhanced earning rates, and comprehensive travel perks—can provide substantial ongoing value for businesses that travel frequently and can maximize multiple statement credits.
While the high annual fee and significant spending requirement make this card best suited for established businesses with considerable expenses, those that can leverage its benefits will find the Business Platinum Card to be one of the most rewarding business cards available.
Given that this is the highest public welcome offer ever seen on this card, now is an ideal time to apply if you’ve been considering adding the Business Platinum Card to your business’s financial toolkit.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long will the 300,000-point welcome offer be available?
American Express hasn’t announced an end date for this targeted 300,000-point offer. However, offers like this typically don’t last indefinitely. Since this is the highest publicly available welcome bonus ever offered on the Business Platinum Card, it’s advisable to apply sooner rather than later if you’re interested. American Express can change or withdraw offers at any time without notice.
Just remember that this is a targeted offer, so you may be given a lower welcome offer or no offer at all.
Do I need a formal business to qualify for the Amex Business Platinum Card?
You don’t necessarily need a registered corporation or LLC to qualify for the Business Platinum Card. Sole proprietors, freelancers, and gig economy workers can also apply. If you sell goods or services with the intent to make a profit, you likely qualify as a business in Amex’s eyes. When applying, you can use your Social Security Number as your business tax ID and your name as the business name if you’re a sole proprietor without formal business registration.
How does the $600 hotel credit work?
The $600 hotel credit is structured as two $300 statement credits per calendar year (January-June and July-December). To use this credit, you must book prepaid stays through American Express Travel at properties in either the Fine Hotels + Resorts program or The Hotel Collection. Fine Hotels + Resorts bookings require a minimum one-night stay, while The Hotel Collection requires a minimum two-night stay. The credit will automatically apply as a statement credit after your eligible purchase posts to your account.
Can I have both the personal and business versions of the Platinum Card?
Yes, you can hold both The Platinum Card® from American Express (personal version) and The Business Platinum Card® from American Express simultaneously. American Express considers these to be different products, so having one doesn’t disqualify you from receiving the welcome bonus on the other. This can be a valuable strategy for maximizing benefits, as some credits (like the hotel credit and airline fee credit) are available on both cards, effectively doubling your access to these perks.
What’s the difference between the 2X points categories and the 5X points categories?
The Business Platinum Card earns 5X points on flights and prepaid hotels booked through AmexTravel.com, with no annual spending cap. It earns 2X points on purchases of $5,000 or more, as well as on purchases with U.S. cloud service and software providers, U.S. construction materials and hardware suppliers, U.S. electronic goods retailers, and U.S. shipping providers. This 2X earning rate applies to up to $2 million in combined purchases across these categories per calendar year, after which these purchases earn 1X points. All other eligible purchases earn 1X points.
How do I maximize the Dell and Adobe credits?
To maximize the Dell credit, first use the $150 base credit for smaller purchases, then make a larger purchase of at least $5,000 to trigger the additional $1,000 credit. For business technology needs, this could include servers, workstations, or bulk orders of laptops and accessories. For the Adobe credit, you need to spend at least $600 directly with Adobe to receive the $250 statement credit. This could cover annual subscriptions to Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe Acrobat Pro, or other Adobe business software. Remember to enroll in these benefits through your American Express account before making purchases.
