Buy Hilton Honors Points Promotion: Up to a 90% Bonus
Loading article…
Hilton Honors has a new buy points promotion that gives members up to a 90% bonus on points purchased. Hilton has not published an end date for this offer, so it could disappear without notice.
With this bonus, members can effectively buy points for as low as 0.53¢, which sits just behind the best offers we tend to see with this program.
This promotion represents a good opportunity to top-up your Hilton Honors account for a specific redemption or potentially save a nice chunk of cash on one of Hilton’s many aspirational properties.
Let’s take a look at the promotion’s details to see if you should take advantage of this limited-time opportunity.
\n\nPromotion Details
The current Hilton Honors buy points promotion has no published end date. Therefore, Hilton can pull it at any time, and we suggest you buy points only when you have a specific stay in mind.
Like many buy-points promotions, this offer is targeted so members may see different bonuses when they log into their account.
The 90% bonus appears to be the best available offer, with the bonus kicking in when you buy 3,000+ points.
For those targeted for the full 90% bonus, this gives you the following rates:
- Buy up to 2,000 Hilton Honors points: No bonus
- Buy 3,000–240,000 Hilton Honors points: 90% bonus
Based on this structure, if you were to purchase the maximum number of points during this promotion, you would get 456,000 Hilton Honors points (240,000 regular points + 216,000 bonus points) for $2,400 USD.
This gives you an effective cost of 0.53¢ per point before taxes, or roughly half the regular 1¢ per point price.
Also, it’s notable that the maximum purchase amount has been elevated from its usual yearly maximum of 160,000 purchased points per year (before bonuses) to 240,000.
\n\nWith Hilton Honors, you’re also allowed to pool your points with family members, so in theory, you could buy additional points during this promotion under a family member’s account and then transfer them into your own account if you were looking to access more than 456,000 points.
Is It a Good Idea to Buy Hilton Honors Points?
Despite the strong value available during this buy points promotion, there are still generally only two scenarios where buying Hilton Honors points is a good idea.
Scenario 1: Topping up your account
The first scenario where it can definitely make sense to buy points is when you’re looking to just add a few points to your account so that you can access a specific redemption.
Since reward programs can be devalued without any notice (and in fact the Hilton Honors program was devalued in 2025), you always want to have a plan for your points, and it’s never a good idea to purchase points speculatively.
Additionally, since Hilton doesn’t publish an award chart, the exact number of points you’ll need for a given redemption can change at any moment, and this fluctuation can leave you out-of-pocket if you’ve made a points purchase without a plan.
Scenario 2: When points are cheaper than cash
The other situation in which it can make sense to buy Hilton Honors points is if there is a stay where it’s cheaper to buy the points at 0.53¢ a piece and use them than it is to pay the cash rate.
As an example, a night in the Lagoon Bungalow Room at the Huvafen Fushi Maldives, an SLH Hotel, can be booked for $1,151, and that same night is also available for 190,000 points. In this case, you would buy 100,000 base points for $1,000 and the 90% bonus would top you up to 190,000 points. As a result, you save $151 off the listed cash price.
\n\nNow, finding this type money-saving scenario isn’t always easy, but it’s certainly a nice option to be able to explore — especially if you have your eye on a premium property or two that come attached to a higher price tag.
However, keep in mind that although purchased points often arrive instantly, it can take multiple days before they appear in your account. This makes this redemption scenario fairly risky, so we recommend approaching these opportunities with caution.
Which Credit Card Should You Use to Buy Points?
When you purchase Hilton Honors points through this promotion, your order will be processed by Points.com and not directly with Hilton or Hilton Honors.
This means that your purchase will not be coded as a hotel or travel transaction on your credit card statement, and therefore, won’t be eligible for elevated category earning rates.
Given this, the best credit cards to use when buying Hilton Honors points are:
- A new credit card where you’re working to meet the minimum spending requirement to earn a welcome bonus
- A card with a high earning rate for everday spending, such as the Chase Freedom Unlimited® (1.5% cash back) or the Citi® Double Cash Card (2% cash back)

Other Ways to Earn Hilton Honors Points
Prior to buying Hilton Honors points through this current promotion, it’s worthwhile looking to see if there are other easier and/or less costly ways for you to earn the same number of points.
With Hilton Honors, you can earn points through the following methods:
- Stays at Hilton properties: Earn up to 10 points per $1 spent at Hilton properties. You can also earn additional points on your stays if you’re a Hilton Honors elite member.

How many points do I need to redeem for a free night at a Hilton property?
The number of points you need to redeem for a free night a Hilton property will vary greatly depending on which property you select.
In general, Hilton Honors redemptions typically range from 10,000 points all the way up to 250,000 points per night. These rates are a reflection on a devaluation that the loyalty program experienced in the latter half of 2025 which has made the award rates notably higher than what they once were.
Additionally, you may see nightly award rates priced beyond 250,000 points. For the most part, these elevated redemption prices are because there are no more standard room awards remaining and the property is now offering premium room redemptions for a higher rate (and often reflecting a lower value).
