Updated Aug 1, 2025
World of Hyatt card

The World of Hyatt card is a favorite among the Milesopedia US team. For Hyatt loyalists, the card can pay for itself with its annual free night certificate and Discoverist status. Plus, for those looking for a higher status tier, you can use the card to rack up elite night credits with your everyday spending.

But is the card right for your wallet? Let’s look at the World of Hyatt card and its welcome offer, benefits and fees. By the end of the story, you’ll have everything you need to know to decide whether or not to apply for the card.

World of Hyatt Card welcome offer

World of Hyatt card earning rates

The World of Hyatt card earns bonus points on select purchases, including Hyatt hotel stays. Here’s a breakdown of how many points you’ll earn on purchases charged to your card.

  • Hyatt purchases: 4 points per $1
  • Restaurants: 2 points per $1
  • Airline tickets (direct from airlines): 2 points per $1
  • Local transit and commuting: 2 points per $1
  • Fitness clubs and gym memberships: 2 points per $1
  • All other purchases: 1 point per $1

We don’t usually recommend using this card for anything but Hyatt stays. However, it might be worthwhile to spend on the card within the welcome offer (which offers an extra point per dollar) period to earn elite nights or another free night award certificate.

You’ll earn two elite nights per $5,000 spent and a second free night (in addition to one earned at your account anniversary) when you spend $15,000 on your card within a calendar year. This certificate can be used at Category 1 to 4 properties.

World of Hyatt points

World of Hyatt points are among the most valuable hotel points, mainly due to its commitment to an award chart.

Almost all Hyatt properties are assigned an award category with peak, standard and off-peak pricing. This means you have an idea of how many points you’ll spend for every award stay you book. The only exception to this rule are Mr. And Mrs. Smith properties which are priced dynamically.

CategoryOff-PeakStandardPeak
13,5005,0006,500
26,5008,0009,500
39,00012,00015,000

725,00030,00035,000
835,00040,00045,000

Note that all-inclusive properties use a different award chart. The chart below covers all-inclusive stays for up to two guests, but you can add an extra guest for a points fee. Here’s a look:

CategoryOff-PeakStandardPeak
A12,00015,00018,000
B17,00020,00023,000
C21,00025,00029,000
D25,00030,00035,000
E35,00040,00045,000
F42,00050,00058,000

It’s not uncommon to redeem World of Hyatt points for 2+ cents per point. For example, the Hyatt House Frankfurt Eschborn is a Category 1 property. On an example rate this June, a 1 night stay costs $100.76. Meanwhile, you can book it for 3,500 points on the same night, giving you 3 cents per point.

Is the World of Hyatt card worth it?

If you stay with Hyatt regularly and can use the annual free night certificate for more than the card’s $95 annual fee, it’s likely worth it. For a detailed breakdown of its benefits, check out the World of Hyatt card review. This is also true if you’re a Hyatt elite looking to keep or upgrade their status tier since you get 5 elite nights every year, with the opportunity to earn 2 more every time you spend $5,000 on the card.

If you do get the card, try to spend $15,000 per year on it. This will give you 6 extra elite nights and a second free night certificate. This is especially true during your first six months of account opening since you’ll earn 2 points per dollar on purchases that typically earn 1 point per dollar as part of the card’s welcome offer.

You could also get a Business credit card. Check the comparison here.

Bottom line

The World of Hyatt card is one of the most popular hotel credit cards due to its low annual fee and variety of travel benefits. Consider your upcoming plans to stay at Hyatt properties before applying. If you’re short of your elite goals or can use the bonus and certificates, it might be worth adding to your wallet.
