Amex Business Platinum Limits 2X Shipping and the $10 Wireless Credit to Select Merchants From February 17, 2027

Starting February 17, 2027, the Business Platinum Card® from American Express narrows two benefits that small businesses use every month. The 2X shipping category will count only purchases made directly with 7 named providers, and the up to $10 monthly wireless credit will apply only to bills paid directly to 11 named carriers. Both changes are written into the Business Platinum benefit terms on americanexpress.com.
The rest of the card does not move. The annual fee stays at $895, the 2X rate still applies to up to $2 million of eligible purchases per calendar year, and the wireless credit stays at up to $120 per year. If your shipping or phone bill runs through a company outside the two lists, those purchases lose their bonus on February 17, 2027.
Today, the 2X shipping category covers purchases at U.S. shipping providers in general. The wireless credit covers monthly wireless telephone service bought directly from any wireless provider in the U.S. and U.S. territories. From February 17, 2027, both become closed lists.
| Benefit | Until February 16, 2027 | From February 17, 2027 |
|---|---|---|
| 2X on U.S. shipping | Purchases at U.S. shipping providers | Only purchases made directly with 7 named providers |
| Wireless credit (up to $10 per month, up to $120 per year) | Monthly service bought directly from a U.S. wireless provider | Only monthly service bought directly from 11 named carriers |
| Enrollment | Required for the wireless credit | Still required for the wireless credit |
Shipping purchases keep earning 2X Membership Rewards points only when made directly with:
Monthly wireless service charges keep triggering the statement credit only when paid directly to:
Carriers such as US Mobile, Boost Mobile and Total Wireless are not on the list. The terms already exclude Google Fi, third parties, authorized retailers and resellers, phone hardware and equipment, and bundled TV, internet and VoIP services.
The Business Platinum still pays 2X Membership Rewards points in four cases: U.S. construction material and hardware suppliers, U.S. electronic goods retailers and software and cloud system providers, U.S. shipping providers, and any eligible purchase of $5,000 or more. A purchase that fits several of these cases earns 2X only once, and a purchase that also qualifies for 5X on Amex Travel earns the higher rate.
The wireless credit still requires enrollment, and only the Basic Card Member or an Authorized Account Manager can enroll the account. Purchases on Employee Cards count, but the cap is $10 per card account per month.
The same date and the same 11 carriers apply to the Business Gold Card, whose 4X advertising and wireless categories narrow on February 17, 2027 as well.
The businesses that lose the most are those that ship through a regional freight carrier, a fulfillment service or a shipping marketplace that is not one of the 7 named providers. Those purchases drop from 2X to 1X.
On the wireless side, the loss is capped at $120 per year. It hits accounts that pay a smaller carrier or a reseller. If your company already pays Verizon, AT&T or T-Mobile directly, nothing changes for you.
If you hold the card mainly for lounge access, the hotel credit or the other benefits covered in our 2025 Business Platinum refresh breakdown, this change barely touches its value.
Pull a few recent statements and look at who actually bills your shipping and phone service. A label platform or a reseller can sit between you and the carrier, and that is enough to lose the bonus.
If a provider is off the list, you have three options: switch billing so the named carrier charges your card directly, accept 1X on that spend, or move it to another card. Our ranking of the best business credit cards lists cards to compare.
From February 17, 2027, the Amex Business Platinum keeps its 2X shipping category and its up to $10 monthly wireless credit, but only with named companies. Check who bills you before that date and move your spending if needed.
