Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select and Business Cards Move to a $150 Annual Fee on January 24, 2027

Starting January 24, 2027, existing holders of the Citi / AAdvantage Platinum Select card and the Citi / AAdvantage Business card get a refreshed set of benefits, and both cards move to a $150 annual fee, up from $99. Citi lists every change on its Platinum Select refresh page and its Business refresh page.
The fee goes up by $51 a year. In exchange, both cards add 3X AAdvantage miles on AAdvantage Hotels and AAdvantage Cars bookings, up to $100 a year in statement credits on American Airlines inflight purchases, a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck credit worth up to $120 every 4 years, and trip protections that neither card carried before. The question for most cardholders is simple: will you use enough of the new credits to cover $51?
The changes apply to the two mid-range cards in the Citi co-brand lineup. The no-fee AAdvantage MileUp card, the Citi / AAdvantage Globe card and the Citi / AAdvantage Executive card are not part of this refresh.
As of October 28, 2026, the public application terms for the Platinum Select still show a $99 annual fee, waived for the first 12 months. Check the terms on the day you apply.

The Platinum Select keeps its current earning on American Airlines purchases and restaurants, and adds four bonus categories:
The card also gets new or larger credits:
Trip Delay Protection, Trip Cancellation and Interruption Protection, Worldwide Car Rental Insurance and Lost Baggage Protection are also added.
The Business card adds 3X miles on eligible AAdvantage Hotels and AAdvantage Cars bookings, plus 2X miles on one Self-Select Category: U.S. shipping providers, office supply stores or U.S. advertising services. Office supplies is the default if you do not pick one, and you can switch categories once a quarter in your Citi account.
It also gains up to $100 a year in inflight statement credits, the same Global Entry or TSA PreCheck credit of up to $120 every 4 years, 25% off a Melio subscription plan, and travel coverage that includes Enhanced Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption, Lost or Damaged Luggage, MasterRental car rental coverage and Trip Delay.
The status perk that makes this card popular stays in place. Every cardmember earns 1 Loyalty Point per $1 spent, and through December 31, 2028, the primary cardmember also earns 1 extra Loyalty Point for every $1 spent by authorized users. Our Citi / AAdvantage Business card review explains how that works toward AAdvantage status.
Both cards keep the first checked bag free on domestic American Airlines itineraries for you and up to 4 companions on the same reservation, preferred boarding, no foreign transaction fees and 10% savings on eligible American Airlines Vacations packages. The Platinum Select keeps up to $180 a year in Turo statement credits. The Business card keeps its Companion Certificate after $30,000 in purchases in a cardmembership year and renewal, which costs $99 to redeem plus taxes and fees.
Start with what you already use. If you regularly buy food or drinks on American flights, the inflight credit alone can return up to $100 a year, almost twice the fee increase. A traveler who needs to renew Global Entry gets up to $120 back once every 4 years, or roughly $30 a year.
The Walmart+ membership has value only if you would use free delivery or the streaming choice. The new trip protections matter most if you book paid fares on the card and have no other card that covers them.
If you rarely buy anything inflight and already have Global Entry, the math gets thin. In that case, compare the Platinum Select with the other cards in our guide to American Airlines credit cards, or browse all our credit card reviews. You can also stretch your miles with American's cash and miles bookings.
The Citi / AAdvantage Platinum Select and Business cards cost $150 a year from January 24, 2027, and both add a $100 annual inflight credit, a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck credit and trip protections. If you spend at least $51 a year on American inflight purchases, keep the card. If not, list the new credits you would actually use before your next renewal, and decide then.
