800 Seats: Houston's New United Club Opens at Terminal B

United's new United Club at Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) opened to travelers on October 22, 2026, as part of the new Terminal B North concourse. With 54,000 square feet and seating for 800 people, it substantially expands the lounge options at one of United's major hubs.
Houston Airports' official announcement confirms the opening date and facilities, including an outdoor terrace, two bars and private phone rooms. For passengers, the practical questions are where to find it, whether their ticket or membership grants entry, and whether a paid pass is worth using.
This article covers the announced facilities and current access rules. It is not a firsthand lounge review; the photograph comes from the airport's announcement.
The lounge is on the mezzanine level of Terminal B North. In its October 23 first-look report, AwardWallet places the entrance near gate B11, with escalators leading upstairs.
That report lists daily hours of 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Treat those as reported opening hours and check the official United lounge finder or the United app before your visit. Hours and access availability can change, particularly around holidays or operational disruptions.
The Terminal B North location matters when planning a connection. Check your actual arrival and departure gates on the day of travel, rather than assuming every United flight uses the new concourse. A larger club is useful only if you have time to reach it and return to your boarding gate.
Allow for walking, any required terminal transfer, and your flight's boarding time. A short connection is not a good reason to take a detour simply to see a new lounge. United may update gate assignments after you first check your itinerary.
Houston Airports describes a lounge with 800 seats, a 1,350-square-foot outdoor terrace, panoramic airfield views, two full-service bars, two buffet stations and 11 private phone rooms. Wi-Fi and power outlets are also part of the announced facilities.
| Feature | Announced provision |
|---|---|
| Indoor lounge size | 54,000 square feet |
| Seating | 800 seats |
| Outdoor terrace | 1,350 square feet |
| Bars and buffets | 2 full-service bars; 2 buffet stations |
| Private phone rooms | 11 |
The terrace is a distinctive addition for travelers who prefer a view of the airport from outside. Its availability should be checked during your visit; the presence of an outdoor area does not guarantee that it will be usable in every weather condition.
For passengers working between flights, the private phone rooms provide an alternative to taking calls in the main seating areas. With 11 rooms serving a much larger lounge, do not build an essential meeting around having one available immediately.
The airport also highlights art predominantly by Texas artists. Its announcement includes an aviation photograph taken by a United employee based in San Antonio. The press photograph shows varied seating areas beneath a wood-toned slatted ceiling.
The scale is significant, but capacity is not a promise of empty seats. Food quality, noise levels and crowding depend on the actual visit. Neither the opening announcement nor a photograph establishes how the lounge will perform during a busy departure bank.
The club follows United's lounge access rules. A same-day eligible boarding pass is required alongside the relevant membership, pass, ticket or status benefit. United can request identification.
A valid United Club membership can provide access when traveling on an eligible United, Star Alliance or contracted partner flight. Guest privileges depend on the membership type.
An Individual membership does not include guests. An All Access membership permits up to two adult guests, or one adult guest and dependent children under 18, subject to United's conditions. Do not assume that every membership carries identical guest rights or partner-lounge access.
United separately lists guest rules for membership supplied through an eligible United Club credit card. Check the benefit attached to your own account, especially if traveling with children or another adult. Our United credit cards guide and United Club Card article explain the card options.
Some qualifying premium-cabin itineraries include United Club access. Eligibility depends on the operating airline, route, cabin and applicable fare conditions. Verify your exact itinerary against United's current access table.
Do not assume that any domestic first-class ticket automatically grants admission. Also distinguish access to a United Club from access to a United Polaris lounge: they are separate products with different requirements.
United MileagePlus Premier Gold members and higher can access United Clubs under the status rules when traveling on an eligible international Star Alliance itinerary, including applicable connections. United's conditions permit one guest traveling on the same flight.
For Star Alliance Gold status earned through another member airline's program, the applicable rule covers departure on a same-day Star Alliance-operated flight, with one guest on that same flight.
Those are different eligibility paths. United Premier Gold status by itself is not a blanket United Club entitlement on an ordinary domestic itinerary. Review our United MileagePlus guide for the broader program.
United currently lists a one-time pass at $59 per person on its official pass page. Passes can be purchased through the United app; some club locations may sell them when space is available.
A pass does not guarantee entry. Admission is subject to capacity, and members have priority. Check whether the Houston club is accepting one-time passes before spending money specifically for this visit.
The pass covers one person for one visit, with an eligible same-day boarding pass. United generally limits entry with a one-time pass to within three hours of departure, with an exception for connecting itineraries. Each traveler needs the appropriate individual access entitlement.
United-issued credit card passes have their own use conditions, including the requirement that the primary cardmember or an authorized user be present when using those card passes. Check the exact pass in your account instead of assuming every pass is freely transferable.
A $59 pass can be worthwhile during a longer wait if you expect to use the food, drinks, seating and work facilities. For a brief visit, compare the price with what you would otherwise spend in the terminal. Do not value the pass on the assumption that an unused benefit must be used.
Houston's new Terminal B North club should not be confused with United Club Fly in Terminal B South, which opened in February 2025. Club Fly is a separate concept aimed at a different airport stop.
United's one-time pass rules explicitly exclude United Club Fly and United Polaris lounges. A pass that can be used at an eligible United Club does not provide access to either of those products.
Houston Airports says IAH now has seven United club and lounge locations when Club Fly and Polaris are included. That combined count does not mean all seven have the same entrance rules. Choose a lounge according to both your location and your actual entitlement.
Start with your flight and access method. Confirm your boarding pass, membership or pass validity, guest allowance, and the current opening hours. If paying for admission, verify that one-time passes are being accepted that day.
Then compare the travel time with the time you can comfortably spend inside. The new lounge adds substantial capacity and useful facilities to Terminal B, but reaching your departure gate with enough time remains the priority.
For travelers who regularly connect at IAH, the opening makes United Club membership benefits more relevant to review. Occasional travelers should compare access options and their actual expected use before choosing a card or paying for a membership. Our best credit cards selection can help with that comparison.
