Best Western Rewards Becomes WorldHotels Rewards on January 5, 2027: What Members Need to Know

Best Western Rewards is going away as a name. On January 5, 2027, it merges with the smaller WorldHotels Rewards program into a single loyalty program called WorldHotels Rewards, under the new WorldHotels masterbrand that BWH Hotels announced on October 27, 2026. The combined program counts roughly 70 million members across more than 4,000 hotels, 18 brands and over 100 countries.
For members, the headline is reassuring so far: your points keep their current value, they still never expire, and status matching and member rates stay. The big unknown is the elite structure, which shrinks to 3 tiers. Full program details are scheduled for November 16, 2026.
WorldHotels Rewards replaces Best Western Rewards and WorldHotels Rewards on January 5, 2027, and the company commits to protecting the benefits members use most:
Today, members earn 10 points per $1 spent on qualifying rates at most hotels and 5 points per $1 at extended-stay hotels. Nothing announced so far changes that before the January launch.
Partnerships are not changing in this process. Earning, redeeming and converting points with current partners works the same way after the switch.
Best Western Rewards currently runs five membership tiers, from the entry level up to Diamond Select. WorldHotels Rewards will have 3 tiers. BWH Hotels has not said yet how today's tiers map to the new ones, what each new tier requires, or which perks each one includes.
Members keep their current elite tier during the transition and learn their new tier on December 14, 2026.
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| October 27, 2026 | WorldHotels masterbrand announced, new website live |
| November 16, 2026 | Full WorldHotels Rewards details: tiers, earning and redemption |
| December 14, 2026 | Members learn their new tier |
| January 5, 2027 | WorldHotels Rewards launches and replaces Best Western Rewards |
| January 2027 | Best Western Rewards Visa Signature cards become WorldHotels Visa Signature cards |
The masterbrand change does not rename your hotel. Best Western, Best Western Plus, Best Western Premier, SureStay, Aiden and the other brands keep their names, signage and identities. The upscale and luxury hotels now sit under WorldHotels Collection, which has six categories: WorldHotels Luxury, WorldHotels Elite, WorldHotels Distinctive, WorldHotels Crafted, WorldHotels Backdrop and WorldHotels Residences.
Two brands are being folded in: Sadie is retired, and Vīb hotels move to Aiden.
Here is how the portfolio is grouped for earning and redeeming points:
The Best Western Rewards Visa Signature cards become WorldHotels Visa Signature cards in January 2027. They keep the same benefits, including the fast-track to elite status.
The Best Western To Go app also becomes the WorldHotels Rewards app in January, and a new WorldHotels website is already live.
"WorldHotels Rewards was designed with our guests at the heart of every decision," said Joelle Park, Chief Marketing Officer of WorldHotels.
This is the latest in a run of loyalty overhauls. Wyndham switched to a new award chart with free nights from 5,000 to 45,000 points, and Southwest is reworking Rapid Rewards and the Companion Pass for 2027.
Keep earning and redeeming Best Western Rewards points as usual: they keep their value and do not expire, so there is no reason to rush a redemption before January 5, 2027. Put two dates on your calendar: November 16, 2026, when the tier and earning details come out, and December 14, 2026, when you see your new tier. If you hold elite status you care about, wait for the November 16 details before planning 2027 stays around it.
