With the 40% bonus, you can buy Marriott Bonvoy points for as low as 0.89¢ each, giving you a chance to top up your account for a sought-after redemption.
Over the years, we’ve seen Marriott Bonvoy offer buy-points promotions ranging from around 30% to 50%, so this current offer is in line with the last few we’ve seen from the program.
Now, knowing all this, let’s get into the details of this opportunity to see if you should take advantage before the deal ends.
Promotion Details
Marriott Bonvoy has announced a new buy points promotion which runs between April 23 and June 23, 2026. Through this limited-time offer, you can receive up to 40% bonus points on your purchase
You can access the bonus offer on purchases of at least 2,000 points.
That means that for those who are eligible for the 40% bonus, you can expect to earn as follows:
- Buy 1,000 Marriott Bonvoy points: No bonus
- Buy 2,000+ Marriott Bonvoy points: 40% bonus
However, keep in mind that these offers are often targeted, so you may show a different bonus percentage or bonus tiers in your account.
Promotion Rules and Limitations
If you were to max out your points purchase limit during this promotion, you would get 210,000 Marriott Bonvoy points (150,000 purchased points + 60,000 bonus points) for $1,875, which gives you a value of 0.89¢ per point.
Marriott Bonvoy members are allowed to purchase a maximum of 150,000 points per calendar year (not counting bonuses), and Marriott Bonvoy points normally cost 1.25¢ each when there are no bonuses or discounts.
Important considerations
Two important things to consider before you make your points purchase:
- Generally purchased points arrive in your account near-instantly; however, the terms do mention that they may take up to 72 hours to arrive. This is particularly important to note if you’re trying to snag a specific redemption as it may not still be available by the time your points arrive.
- To purchase points, your Bonvoy account must be at least 30 days old, and you must be an active member. This means that you need to have some sort of qualifying activity on your account.(i.e., earning, redeeming, or both).
Which Credit Card Should You Use?
Marriott Bonvoy points purchases are processed through Points.com and not directly through Marriott or Marriott Bonvoy.
This means that these transactions will not code under the hotel or travel purchase category on your credit card, and thus are not eligible for elevated category earning rates.
With this in mind, the best credit card options for buying Marriott Bonvoy points are as follows:
- A new credit card where you’re working to meet the minimum spending requirement to earn a welcome bonus
- A card with a high earning rate for everday spending, such as the Chase Freedom Unlimited® (1.5% cash back) or the Citi® Double Cash Card (2% cash back)

Is It A Good Idea to Buy Marriott Bonvoy Points?
Given this current buy Marriott Bonvoy points promotion, you’re likely wondering if it’s a good idea to use this opportunity to easily fill up your account.
In general, there are two scenarios when buying Marriott Bonvoy points is a good idea:
Scenario 1: Topping up your account
First, topping-up your account when you’re only a few points short of a desired redemption is a reasonable way to access a stay that you’ve been eyeing.
It’s important to remember that it’s never advisable to buy points on a speculative basis since programs can be devalued with no notice, potentially making your stash worth less than you paid for it.
Additionally, since Marriott Bonvoy doesn’t have a fixed-price redemption chart, the cost of any given redemption can change at a moment’s notice.
Scenario 2: When points are cheaper than cash
The second scenario where it may make sense to buy Marriott Bonvoy points is if you find a situation where it’s cheaper to buy the points at 0.89¢ each and redeem them than it is to pay the cash rate.
For example, let’s say you found a property that cost $500 a night or 50,000 points. In this situation, you could buy points during the current promotion and pay $450 for 50,400 points (0.89 x 36,000 points + 14,400 bonus points). This would give you the ability to redeem for the same night and save $50.
However, finding a scenario where this math works out to your advantage is easier said than done since Marriott tends to price its redemptions with consideration to the cash cost.
Additionally, purchased points can take up to 72 hours to arrive in your account, which means that the redemption you’re eyeing could become more expensive or disappear altogether, leaving you with a financial loss.
Other Ways to Earn Marriott Bonvoy Points
Before buying points, it’s a good idea to see if you can access the same results through other means. With Marriott Bonvoy, in addition to buying points, you can earn them the following ways:
- Staying at a Marriott property: Earn up to 5 points per $1 spent at Marriott properties; plus additional bonus points if you’ve got Marriott Bonvoy elite status.
- Transferring from a partnered program: Marriott Bonvoy is a transfer partner with American Express Membership Rewards and Chase Ultimate Rewards.
- Share points from another account: Marriott Bonvoy lets you share up to 100,000 points per year from another member.
- Spending on a co-branded Marriott Bonvoy credit card: Marriott Bonvoy offers multiple co-branded credit cards, which let you earn points on all your purchases and often come with lucrative welcome bonuses and perks to help get you a free stay sooner.

Bottom Line
The current buy Marriott Bonvoy points promotion gives fans of the brand the ability to grab a few extra points for as little as 0.89¢ per point.
Despite this price being below the standard 1.25¢ per point cost, we still only recommend buying points when you need just a few more in order to book a stay in that dream property, or you have a specific redemption in mind and have done the math to make sure it’s a good financial decision.
That said, if you’re planning to take advantage of this current offer, don’t forget that the Marriott Bonvoy points promotion ends on June 23, 2026, so make sure to get your purchase in before then.
