1.5 Aeroplan Points per Dollar at Hyatt, Plus a Status Challenge

Starting today, October 14, 2026, the Aeroplan Hyatt promotion lets you earn 1.5 Aeroplan points per dollar spent at Hyatt hotels, on top of your regular World of Hyatt points. You need to register by November 11, 2026, and the promotion then covers eligible stays through February 14, 2027.
World of Hyatt and Air Canada's Aeroplan are also opening a 90-day status challenge. World of Hyatt Explorists, Globalists, and Courtesy Card members can now fast-track to Aeroplan Elite Status once per calendar year. For US travelers, that matters because Aeroplan status comes with Star Alliance status on United, Lufthansa, and the rest of the alliance. If Aeroplan is new to you, start with our guide on why US travelers should pay attention to Aeroplan.
Both offers require you to link your Aeroplan and World of Hyatt accounts, which is free. Here is how each one works and who should register.
| Offer | Who can register | Timing | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Double earning at Hyatt | All members with linked Aeroplan and World of Hyatt accounts | Register by November 11, 2026; stays through February 14, 2027 | 1.5 Aeroplan points per eligible dollar, on top of World of Hyatt points |
| Aeroplan status challenge | World of Hyatt Explorist, Globalist, and Courtesy Card members with linked accounts | 90 days from confirmation, once per calendar year | Aeroplan Elite Status if you reach the required SQC |
The promotion is open to any member with an Aeroplan account in good standing that is linked to World of Hyatt. It is not automatic: you must select "Register" on the World of Hyatt offer page before November 11, 2026.
Once you are registered, each eligible stay at a participating Hyatt hotel earns:
Until now, linked members could only pick 500 Aeroplan points per stay instead of their World of Hyatt points. During the promotion, you no longer have to choose.
Take a three-night stay with $800 in eligible charges. You earn:
A 10-night business trip at $2,500 would earn 3,750 Aeroplan points, on top of 12,500 World of Hyatt Base Points.
The partnership's extra earning on Aeroplan co-branded cards, along with complimentary Discoverist status for premium cardholders, is limited to eligible Aeroplan cards issued in Canada. The US-issued Chase Air Canada Aeroplan® Credit Card is not part of that benefit. US cardholders still get the 1.5 Aeroplan points per dollar from this promotion, like every linked member.
To earn more World of Hyatt points on your Hyatt stays, compare the options on our best World of Hyatt credit cards page.
The second offer is for members who already hold mid-tier or top-tier Hyatt status, as explained in our World of Hyatt elite status guide. Once per calendar year, World of Hyatt Explorist and Globalist members, as well as Courtesy Card members, can try to get Aeroplan Elite Status by accumulating the required Status Qualifying Credits (SQC) within 90 days.
The 90-day clock starts when your registration is confirmed, not on your first flight. Register only once your next trips are on the calendar.
As of publication, World of Hyatt and Aeroplan had not released the SQC target for each challenge tier. We will update this article as soon as the thresholds appear on the offer page. For reference, a regular qualification year requires 25,000 SQC for Aeroplan 25K and 75,000 SQC for Aeroplan 75K, over a full calendar year.
The challenge terms refer to "qualifying Aeroplan activity." In a normal year, you accumulate SQC on Air Canada tickets based on the fare you buy, while flights on Star Alliance partners and purchases with other Aeroplan partners give you 1 SQC for every 5 Aeroplan points. Check your challenge terms to see exactly which activity counts before you book.
Aeroplan Elite Status unlocks Star Alliance status, which you can use well beyond Air Canada:
If you fly United or Lufthansa group airlines a few times a year, Star Alliance Gold through Aeroplan can save you real money on lounges and bags. Our Aeroplan program guide covers each tier in detail.
Linked Aeroplan Elite members can also convert Aeroplan points to World of Hyatt points at a two-to-one ratio. For most US travelers, that is a last resort: if you hold Chase Ultimate Rewards points, you can transfer them to Hyatt at one to one instead. Bilt also transfers to Hyatt at one to one until December 31, 2026, before Bilt to Hyatt transfers drop to 4:3. Our transfer partners tool shows every option.
You do not need to fly Air Canada to build an Aeroplan balance. Aeroplan is a 1:1 transfer partner of the four major US flexible currencies:
Transferred points generally do not count toward status, but they are the fastest way to top up an account before booking an award. Aeroplan prices partner awards with no fuel surcharges on many Star Alliance carriers, which is why it remains a favorite with US points collectors. To pick a card that earns one of these currencies, start with our best credit cards ranking or the best Aeroplan credit cards page.
The Aeroplan Hyatt promotion is a free bonus: register today if you have any Hyatt stay planned before February 14, 2027. You keep every World of Hyatt point you would have earned anyway.
The status challenge deserves more planning. You only get one attempt per calendar year, so register when you already have Air Canada or Star Alliance flights booked for the next 90 days. Wait for the SQC targets before you commit, and use our World of Hyatt program guide to check where you stand with Hyatt first.

Link your Aeroplan and World of Hyatt accounts for free from the World of Hyatt Aeroplan page, then select "Register" on the offer page before November 11, 2026. Your Aeroplan account must be in good standing. After that, eligible stays through February 14, 2027 earn 1.5 Aeroplan points per dollar. If you are not a member yet, you can join World of Hyatt for free.
Yes. You earn your regular World of Hyatt points, which means 5 Base Points per eligible dollar for a member, and 1.5 Aeroplan points per dollar on top. That is different from the 500-Aeroplan-point-per-stay option, which replaces your World of Hyatt points. Our World of Hyatt program guide explains how elite bonuses add to the base rate.
World of Hyatt Explorists, Globalists, and Courtesy Card members can register, as long as their Aeroplan account is linked to World of Hyatt and in good standing. Each eligible member gets one attempt per calendar year. Discoverist members do not qualify. The challenge lasts 90 days from the date Hyatt confirms your registration, and our Aeroplan program guide lists the perks of each tier.
Yes. Aeroplan 25K members get Star Alliance Silver, and members at 35K and above get Star Alliance Gold. Gold includes lounge access on eligible international Star Alliance itineraries, priority check-in and boarding, and an extra checked bag. That makes Aeroplan status useful even if you mostly fly United or other Star Alliance airlines from the US.
No. The extra Hyatt earning and complimentary Discoverist status tied to Aeroplan credit cards are limited to eligible cards issued in Canada. As a US cardholder, you can still register for the promotion and earn 1.5 Aeroplan points per dollar on Hyatt stays. Our Chase Aeroplan Credit Card review covers what the US card does offer.
Yes, both. Chase Ultimate Rewards transfers to Aeroplan and to World of Hyatt at a one-to-one ratio. If your goal is Hyatt nights, a direct Chase transfer beats converting Aeroplan points to Hyatt at two to one. Our transfer partners tool compares every program's ratios.
