JetBlue’s TrueBlue loyalty program offers a straightforward approach to earning and redeeming points, with no blackout dates, points that never expire, and the ability to pool points with family members. With its recent program overhaul, JetBlue now offers four elite status tiers and incremental benefits that start before you even reach elite status. In this comprehensive guide, we’ll cover everything you need to know about maximizing the JetBlue TrueBlue program in 2025.

Program Overview

JetBlue TrueBlue is the loyalty program of JetBlue Airways, a major U.S. carrier known for its customer-friendly policies, free in-flight Wi-Fi, and comfortable seating with seatback entertainment. The airline operates hubs in New York (JFK and LaGuardia), Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles, Orlando, San Juan.

Key Program Features

  • Revenue-based program: Points earned are based on dollars spent rather than miles flown
  • No blackout dates: If a seat is available for purchase, it can be booked with points
  • Points never expire: Unlike many airline programs, TrueBlue points do not expire
  • Points pooling: Share points with family and friends (up to 7 members)
  • No award charts: Point prices are generally tied to the cash price of tickets
  • Mosaic elite status: Four tiers with progressively valuable benefits
  • “Perks You Pick” program: Earn choice benefits starting at just 10 tiles

TrueBlue Points Value

TrueBlue points typically have a value of approximately 1.3-1.4 cents per point when redeemed for JetBlue flights. This value is relatively consistent since the program uses a revenue-based redemption model where point prices are tied to cash prices. JetBlue Plus and JetBlue Business cardholders receive a 10% rebate on points redemptions, effectively increasing the value to about 1.45 cents per point.

The real standout value, however, comes from partner airline redemptions, where values can exceed 3 cents per point for premium cabin bookings on airlines like Japan Airlines and Qatar Airways.

Redeeming TrueBlue Points

JetBlue Flights

The most common way to use TrueBlue points is for JetBlue-operated flights. The number of points required is directly tied to the current fare price, with points generally worth about 1.3-1.4 cents each. There are no blackout dates or capacity controls – if a seat is available for purchase with cash, it can be booked with points.

JetBlue also offers a “Cash + Points” option, allowing you to use a combination of points and cash for your booking. This provides flexibility when you don’t have enough points to cover an entire itinerary.

Partner Airline Redemptions

JetBlue has significantly expanded its partner redemption options in recent years. You can now redeem TrueBlue points for flights on:

  • Hawaiian Airlines: Starting at 9,000 points for inter-island flights, 29,000 points to the U.S. West Coast, and 59,000 points to the East Coast in economy
  • Qatar Airways: Starting at 39,000 points for economy or 90,000 points for business class (Qsuite) between North America and Doha
  • Japan Airlines: Starting at 34,900 points for economy or 69,900 points for business class between the U.S. and Japan
  • Icelandair: Starting at 17,000 points for economy or 69,900 points for business class between the East Coast and Iceland
  • TAP Air Portugal: Starting at 33,000 points for economy or 89,000 points for business class between the U.S. and Portugal
  • Etihad Airways: Starting at 59,900 points for economy or 135,900 points for business class between New York/Boston and Abu Dhabi

Partner awards must be booked on JetBlue’s website or by calling JetBlue, and are subject to award availability.

Other Redemption Options

  • JetBlue Vacations packages: Combine flights and hotels using points
  • Magazine subscriptions: Redeem points for various magazine and newspaper subscriptions
  • Charitable donations: Donate points to various charitable organizations

TrueBlue Elite Status (Mosaic)

In 2023, JetBlue completely revamped its elite status program, introducing a tile-based qualification system and four tiers of Mosaic status, each with progressively valuable benefits.

Earning Tiles and Status

JetBlue uses “tiles” as the currency for earning elite status:

  • Earn 1 tile for every $100 spent on JetBlue flights, JetBlue Vacations, and Paisly by JetBlue
  • Earn 1 tile for every $1,000 spent on JetBlue credit cards

The four Mosaic status tiers require the following number of tiles:

  • Mosaic 1: 50 tiles
  • Mosaic 2: 100 tiles
  • Mosaic 3: 150 tiles
  • Mosaic 4: 250 tiles

Perks You Pick

One of the most innovative aspects of JetBlue’s program is that you start earning benefits well before reaching elite status. At 10, 20, 30, and 40 tiles, you can select one of the following perks:

  • 5,000 bonus TrueBlue points
  • Early boarding (Group B) for the remainder of the year
  • Priority security access for the remainder of the year
  • Complimentary alcoholic drink on each flight for the remainder of the year
  • One-time double points on a JetBlue Vacations package

You can only select each perk once, so by the time you reach 40 tiles, you’ll have chosen four of the five available options.

Additionally, when you reach each Mosaic tier, you can select one of these perks:

  • 20-tile bonus for yourself
  • Gift a 20-tile bonus to another TrueBlue member
  • 15,000 bonus TrueBlue points
  • Mint Suite Priority (priority access to Mint Suite selection on select aircraft)

Move to Mint Certificates

One of the most valuable benefits of higher Mosaic tiers is the ability to upgrade from economy to Mint (JetBlue’s business class). Mosaic 3 members receive 4 certificates, and Mosaic 4 members receive an additional 2 certificates (for a total of 6). These certificates allow you to book an economy ticket and then upgrade to Mint at no additional cost, subject to availability.

Points Pooling

JetBlue offers a unique Points Pooling feature that allows up to 7 travelers to combine their points. Unlike some airlines that charge fees for sharing points, JetBlue’s Points Pooling is free and easy to use.

How Points Pooling Works

  • One person serves as the “Pool Leader” who can manage members and control redemptions
  • When you join a pool, 100% of your points go into the combined balance
  • All new points earned by pool members automatically go into the shared account
  • The Pool Leader can redeem points for any member’s travel
  • If a member leaves the pool, they take their remaining points with them
  • If the Pool Leader removes a member, no new member can be added for 6 months

Points Pooling is especially valuable for families or groups who travel together occasionally but may not individually earn enough points for a redemption.

Airline Partnerships

JetBlue has established partnerships with several airlines for both earning and redeeming points. The airline is not part of any major alliance but has been expanding its partner network in recent years.

Current Airline Partners

  • Cape Air: Earn points on connecting flights
  • Etihad Airways: Earn and redeem points
  • Hawaiian Airlines: Earn and redeem points (partnership ending September 30, 2025)
  • Icelandair: Earn and redeem points
  • Japan Airlines: Redeem points
  • JSX: Earn points
  • Qatar Airways: Earn and redeem points
  • Singapore Airlines: Earn and redeem points
  • South African Airways: Earn points
  • TAP Air Portugal: Earn and redeem points

Upcoming Blue Sky Partnership with United

  • Reciprocal mileage redemption and earning

  • Slot sharing at key airports (JFK and Newark)

Transferable Points Programs

JetBlue is a transfer partner of several major transferable points programs:

These programs occasionally offer transfer bonuses to JetBlue, which can provide even better value.

Program Sweet Spots

While JetBlue’s revenue-based program means there aren’t traditional “sweet spots” for JetBlue-operated flights, there are several high-value redemption opportunities, particularly with partner airlines:

Partner Airline Sweet Spots

  • Japan Airlines business class to Tokyo: 79,900 TrueBlue points one-way from the U.S. West Coast to Tokyo. These flights typically cost $5,000+ one-way, giving you a value of over 3 cents per point.
  • Qatar Airways Qsuite to Doha: 90,000 TrueBlue points one-way from the U.S. to Doha in Qatar’s acclaimed Qsuite business class. Cash fares often exceed $6,000 one-way, providing exceptional value.
  • Icelandair economy to Reykjavík: 17,000 TrueBlue points one-way from the East Coast to Iceland. These flights include a standard economy fare (not basic economy) with seat selection and checked baggage, often providing 3.5+ cents per point in value.
  • Hawaiian inter-island flights: 9,000 TrueBlue points one-way, which is 1,500 points less than what Hawaiian Airlines charges for the same flights using their own miles.

JetBlue Flight Sweet Spots

  • Off-peak and sale fares: Since point prices are tied to cash prices, JetBlue sales and off-peak travel dates offer the best value for your points.
  • Mint redemptions with Move to Mint certificates: Mosaic 3 and 4 members can book economy tickets and then upgrade to Mint using certificates, potentially saving 100,000+ points on transcontinental and international routes.
  • Points + Cash bookings: Sometimes using a combination of points and cash can stretch your points further, especially for more expensive flights.
