Delta Air Lines continues to strengthen its international presence with the announcement of two new European destinations from its growing Boston hub. Starting in May 2026, Delta will introduce nonstop service to Madrid, Spain and Nice, France, bringing its total European destinations from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to an impressive 12 cities.
This expansion further solidifies Delta’s position as Boston’s leading international carrier and provides New England travelers with even more options for summer travel to popular Mediterranean destinations.
Delta has announced the following new routes from Boston Logan International Airport:
Additionally, Delta will increase its existing Boston to Barcelona (BCN) service from three weekly flights to daily service for the Summer 2026 season, reflecting strong demand for travel to Spain.
Both new routes will be operated by Delta’s Airbus A330-900neo aircraft, featuring the carrier’s latest cabin products across four service classes:
The A330-900neo is one of Delta’s newest widebody aircraft types, offering enhanced fuel efficiency and passenger comfort features including larger overhead bins, state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment, and improved cabin pressurization.
Delta One on this aircraft features private suites with sliding doors, direct aisle access for all passengers, and fully flat beds—making these new routes particularly attractive for premium travelers.
The new routes will cover these distances across the Atlantic:
While detailed schedules haven’t yet been released, these routes will likely follow similar patterns to Delta’s other European services from Boston, with evening departures from the US and morning arrivals in Europe. We’ll update this article when specific flight times become available.
With these new additions, Delta will serve an impressive 12 European destinations from Boston in Summer 2026:
This extensive network positions Delta as the dominant US carrier for transatlantic service from Boston, with JetBlue being the only other US airline offering significant long-haul service from the airport.
With the expansion of Delta’s international service from Boston, the recently opened Delta One Lounge at Boston Logan will likely see increased traffic during the summer season. This exclusive lounge, which opened in 2024, is specifically designed for Delta One business class passengers and features à la carte dining, premium beverages, and dedicated shower suites.
The lounge’s relatively modest size (approximately 8,000 square feet) may create capacity challenges during peak departure times, especially as Delta continues to add more international flights from Boston. Unlike some other Delta One Lounges, the Boston location does not currently offer access to partner airline business class passengers, including those flying on Air France, KLM, or Virgin Atlantic. But there is a renovated Air France Lounge in Boston.
These new Boston routes are part of Delta’s broader European expansion strategy for the 2026 summer season. Other previously announced additions include:
The Seattle expansions appear to be a competitive response to Alaska Airlines’ growing international presence and partnership strategy.
Additionally, Delta is currently running a unique promotion allowing SkyMiles members to vote on the carrier’s next European destination, with options including:
This interactive approach to route planning demonstrates Delta’s focus on customer engagement and could potentially lead to additional European destinations being announced for the 2026 summer season.
Delta will face varying levels of competition on these new routes:
Currently, Iberia (a oneworld alliance member) operates seasonal service between Boston and Madrid. Delta’s entry will provide SkyTeam loyalists with a nonstop option while increasing competition on this route.
The Boston-Nice route is currently unserved by any carrier offering nonstop flights, making Delta’s new service a unique offering for travelers seeking direct access to the French Riviera from New England. The closest current option requires connecting through Paris or other European hubs.
These new routes offer several benefits for travelers:
For SkyMiles members specifically, these routes will likely be available for redemption when schedules are loaded into Delta’s systems, though premium cabin award availability on new international routes can often be limited initially.
Delta’s addition of Madrid and Nice to its Boston international network represents a logical expansion of the carrier’s European presence from its growing Northeast hub. By targeting popular Mediterranean destinations with strong summer leisure demand, Delta continues to position itself as the leading US carrier for transatlantic service from Boston.
The choice of Spain and France as destinations makes strategic sense given their popularity with American travelers, and the deployment of the A330-900neo with Delta One suites ensures passengers will enjoy the carrier’s latest premium products on these routes.
As Delta continues to build out its international network for Summer 2026, these new routes from Boston highlight the airline’s commitment to expanding its global footprint while leveraging its strengths in key coastal markets. The addition of daily service to Madrid and three-weekly flights to Nice, combined with the upgrade of Barcelona service to daily operations, will provide Boston-area travelers with unprecedented access to southern Europe next summer.
